Kansas : Geographical Features

The topography of Kansas is distinguished by three main land regions. Osage Plains, Flint Hills, Dissected Till Plains, and Arkansas River Lowlands constitute the eastern region. The central third comprises the Smoky Hills the north and several lowland regions to the south. The Great Plains divided into the Dissected High Plains and the High Plains form the western part of Kansas. The maximum elevation of Kansas is at 4,039 ft at Mt. Sunflower on the Colorado border. Important ivers of Kansas include the Missouri, the Arkansas which flows through Wichita and Kansas which runs through Topeka. There are more than 50,000 streams in the state.
